The Australian Archaeological Association Annual Conference will host its first-ever ‘Rainbow Dinner’, aimed at LGBTIQA+ individuals and allies within the archaeological community who are attending the 2023 Annual Conference.

The Rainbow Dinner is an initiative promoting inclusivity within the Australian archaeological community. It provides a platform for networking and discussion for LGBTIQA+ individuals and allies, recognising and supporting the diversity of professionals and students in the field. The event is an opportunity for attendees to exchange ideas about ways to encourage diversity and inclusion in archaeology. They can also learn about the efforts of the Australian Archaeological Association in this regard. The Rainbow Dinner is not just a social event; it represents a commitment to creating a more inclusive archaeological community. This important event marks an important step towards ensuring that the field of archaeology is welcoming and representative of diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
